Big Bad Wolf was in SM City Bacolod on September 20 to 29 for another one of their popular book fairs. This was part of their ongoing campaign to raise a million new readers.
Launched in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2009, BBW is the brainchild of BookXcess’ founders, Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng. Their primary mission is to cultivate reading habits, increase English literacy worldwide, and build a new generation of readers by making books more affordable and accessible to everyone.
As professed lifetime bookworms and bibliophiles, wonder | wander | women were beyond excited and fully engaged with this latest adventure. Learning has been vital all our life — it has facilitated and accelerated our development.
To achieve this goal — in our land of limited options and restrictive opportunities — we had to get creative in adopting different ways of acquiring the knowledge we craved. Book fairs provided us with the unbound limitless benefits that fed our parched psyches through the years.
A book fair is a grand fiesta displaying a variety of books for seekers, students, and lifetime aficionados to browse through and gobble up. At these international events book lovers, authors, publishers, and literary enthusiasts from around the globe unite each year from the US, Europe and Asia.

It was a disappointment to note that more recognized classics and popular authors were priced higher than other book bargains. Locally published authors were segregated to the trade books section at the back rather than up front and more central among the tables marked general and fiction.
Sadly, there was our usual pet peeve as well — science fiction books were lumped in and not separate from fantasy fiction. Why? They are different genres!
