blooms & colors redux
wonder | wander | women feel good to get back to regular sunny walks around the neighborhood, even if it’s been slow and erratic to warm up. A year of lock down and sheltering in place has made the winter seem colder and gloomier than usual.
Passing through home gardens or viewing landscapes online — checking out all the current blooms of the season remains an ongoing joy. Even pesky allergies cannot dampen the excitement of being immersed in their sweet scents and riot of colors.
However limited or closed in, being in nature is always an expansive immersive experience. Mother I feel you under my feet. Mother I feel your heart beat.
Now more than ever the need to stay present, rather than worrying about an unknown future, is a wise option for us to focus on.
COVID has given us the opportunity to put the brakes on and change behavior that is not sustainable and does not contribute to a better world.
What seeds are we planting to make this a future reality? This may be the best time to turn lawns into edible community gardens.
Cities that take down old trees because it’s simpler and less expensive need to find more natural and collaborative ways to repave roads and sidewalks.
Do we really need to be constructing more ginormous edifices? If so, surely we have the technology and know how to incorporate greener and more eco friendly ways to build them?
It’s time we all give up the mindset of commercialized consumerism and seriously apply ourselves to being regenerative restorers.
The time is now and humans have been given the best reset opportunity to do so. Let’s not waste it.
