By now our readers know that wonder | wander | women are bookworms who love our reading collections with an insatiable passion.

As independent working women living in urban hubs, our compact living spaces rarely allow for much. Lucky for us we have always managed to find our own creative solutions.

We have an abundance of hacks and imaginative ways to optimize and maximize our way around the challenge of having more books and shelves without crowding ourselves out of our home life.

Although reading and research are high up on our priority list we realize that a happy haven is also a must. We do want to have the option to invite guests over once in a very special occassion.

Thank god then for wall to wall bookshelves and the creative designers who constantly improve on some really good ideas.

So what do we look for in our shelves? Here are some genius solutions we greatly admire.

We like clean and simple lines. It’s amazing what you can do to transform something inexpensive and ordinary from Amazon or Ikea.

line those hallways
fill those closets
reinforce those rickety steps

Pack as much in yet maintain high visibility and accessibility.

door frames
window frames
more books in stairs options

Be sure they are easy to protect, move and clean.

treasures under lock & key
too precious for dust & mold
blissful meditation chamber

No space wasted. Fill up every available nook and cranny. Max out all those corners to the rafters.

The further along and up a wall they can go — the more floor space we have to enjoy.

. . . .& over

Books open up a wondrous world of beautiful possibilities. Choose them to splurge on and enrich your life.
