Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in world history. Many countries honor women — giving tribute to their struggles and successes.

Every woman has a story to tell and gifts to share with the world. This half recently celebrated our golden at our alma matter homecoming. wonder | wonder | women celebrate magnificent women of all ages.

One such grand dame — Iris Barrel Apfel has passed on at 102 — fabulous style icon and It Girl of fashion. This poster child for older women has forced brands to diversify and embrace older women.

Among them — Charlotte Rampling, 69, for Nars; Jessica Lange, 65, for Marc Jacobs Beauty; Joan Didion, 80, for Celine; Joni Mitchell, 71, for Saint Laurent; Helen “Baddie” Winkle, 88, for Misguided; and Iris herself, 93 then, for Kate Spade.

Iris — an inimitable inspiration

These brave and bold elders with nothing to prove have become trending style setters. Age has no boundaries with them — showcasing their unique collections and personalities.

These fabulous fashionistas have made their mark passing over popular brands favoring thrift shop buys and vintage wares instead. Their wild choices and dramatic flair have caught on and inspired women of old ages to follow suit in the wake of such colorful flamboyance.

Baddie — Missguided’s partywear campaign

These senior icons have put themselves out there. Setting the bar that at any age the way they look is still important. The way they act — by their behavior trumps trends. Age has no limits when it comes to these beaming beacons.

Their startling style and majestic moves have challenged and changed stereotypical perceptions and standards of behavior.
